What Drives the Price of Concrete?

Every concrete project is different. Here's an honest breakdown of the factors that move the number.

Square Footage

Bigger projects cost more total but less per square foot. We have a ~400 sq ft minimum project size.

Largest single factor

Slab Thickness

Driveways typically need 4–6". Foundations and heavy-use slabs need 6"+. Thicker = more material = more cost.

+$1–$3 / sq ft per extra inch

Finish Type

Broomed is most affordable. Smooth costs slightly more. Stamped and exposed aggregate add the most.

+$2–$7 / sq ft for decorative

Tear-Out & Haul-Off

Removing existing concrete adds labor, equipment, and disposal fees.

+$2–$4 / sq ft

Site Access

Tight backyards, steep slopes, and long wheelbarrow distances mean more labor hours.

Varies by site

Reinforcement

Rebar grid is stronger but costs more than wire mesh. We recommend rebar for driveways.

+$1–$3 / sq ft for rebar

Grading & Drainage

If your site needs regrading for water runoff, that's additional excavation and labor.

Varies by site

Color & Sealer

Integral color, surface color hardener, and sealer quality all affect the final price.

+$2–$5 / sq ft

Pricing Questions, Answered

Why don't you give exact prices online?

Because every site is different. A driveway on flat ground with easy access costs less than one on a slope with a tight backyard. We'd rather give you an honest range now and a firm written number after seeing your property — no vague ballparks that change later.

Is concrete cheaper than pavers?

Poured concrete is typically less expensive than pavers for the same square footage — paver materials and labor-intensive installation add up. However, pavers are easier to repair individually. See our concrete vs pavers vs asphalt comparison for the full breakdown.

Do you offer payment plans?

We work with standard payment terms: typically a deposit to schedule, progress payment at pour, and final payment upon completion. We can discuss specific arrangements during your estimate.

What's the minimum project size?

Our minimum project is approximately 400 square feet. This is because the setup cost (forms, equipment, concrete delivery minimum) makes smaller projects impractical.
